Free Ultrasound Services for Pregnant Women: UP Govt Issues Over 14.5 Lakh E-Rupee Vouchers
Lucknow: In a significant step towards providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is offering free ultrasound services to pregnant women at private healthcare centers through e-rupee vouchers.
Since the scheme’s launch in February 2023, more than 14.5 lakh e-rupee vouchers have been distributed as of November 9, allowing expectant mothers to access essential diagnostic services without financial burden.
Among the districts, Azamgarh leads in voucher distribution, with over 61,000 vouchers issued, followed by Agra with more than 56,000 and Badaun with over 53,000. To date, 6.81 lakh vouchers have been redeemed by beneficiaries, ensuring critical healthcare support for pregnant women across the state.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving maternal and child healthcare outcomes in Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Pinky Jowal, Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), emphasized that the initiative underscores Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strong commitment to maternal and child health. She stated, “The e-rupee voucher scheme ensures that pregnant women have access to timely and essential diagnostic services, protecting their health and that of their unborn babies. This program showcases the Yogi government’s proactive efforts to enhance healthcare delivery across Uttar Pradesh.”
The Mission Director shared the rankings of Uttar Pradesh’s top 10 districts in distributing e-rupee vouchers. She stated, “Prayagraj secured fourth place, followed by Deoria in fifth, Ghaziabad in sixth, Gorakhpur in seventh, Bareilly in eighth, Ghazipur in ninth, and Hardoi in 10th. Conversely, Kasganj issued the fewest vouchers, with just 4,352, followed by Bhadohi with 4,876 and Shamli with 5,749.”
She further remarked, “The Yogi government’s e-rupee voucher initiative has significantly improved the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services across the state. This program not only ensures timely health check-ups for women but also plays a vital role in curbing corruption. Being a fully digital scheme, it guarantees that benefits directly reach the intended beneficiaries, exemplifying the government’s commitment to transparency and effective governance.”
