Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: Rahul Gandhi Announces INDIA Bloc’s ‘Seven Guarantees’
Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday outlined the “seven guarantees” — a set of poll promises by the INDIA bloc — for the people of Jharkhand. The state will vote in the second phase on November 20.
Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, Gandhi emphasized the party’s commitment to improving the condition of farmers and youth in the state. He highlighted that the current Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy is Rs 2,400 per quintal. Under a future Congress-led government, this will be raised to Rs 3,200 per quintal, he said.
Gandhi also promised to create 10 lakh new jobs in the next five years to address the rising unemployment issue. Criticizing the central government, he noted that the Jharkhand government is owed Rs 1.36 lakh crore, including land compensation and coal royalty payments, which have yet to be disbursed. He accused the BJP-led central government of working against the interests of Jharkhand.
These promises, part of the INDIA bloc’s electoral agenda, aim to resonate with voters as they head to the polls later this month.
