Scheme Overview
“Aapki Beti Hamari Beti” is an initiative by the Haryana State Government aimed at supporting the first girl child of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, as well as the second girl child of families of any caste. Under this scheme, a one-time investment of Rs. 21,000 is made with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India in the name of the eligible girl child. Upon reaching 18 years of age, the invested amount is paid to the beneficiary. As of August 24, 2015, the scheme was extended to include the third girl child of families of any caste.

Objective
The scheme aims to improve the child sex ratio, ensure the survival and health of girl children, and promote their education. Every girl child has the right to be born, access education, and reach her full potential.

Benefit Provided
A one-time investment of Rs. 21,000 is made in LIC of India for eligible beneficiaries. To date, 460,347 beneficiaries have been covered under this scheme. In the financial year 2023-24, 35,932 beneficiaries have been supported up to October 2023. A budget of Rs. 26,798.50 lakh has been allocated for 2023-24, with Rs. 8,805.56 lakh spent by November 2023.

Eligibility Criteria
The following criteria must be met to qualify for the scheme:

  1. SC Families: The first girl child born on or after January 22, 2015, is eligible for a one-time grant of Rs. 21,000.
  2. BPL Families: The first girl child born on or after January 22, 2015, qualifies for the one-time grant of Rs. 21,000.
  3. Second Girl Child: All families, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, income, or number of sons, whose second girl child is born on or after January 22, 2015, are eligible for the grant of Rs. 21,000.
  4. Multiple Births: Families with twin/multiple girl children born on or after January 22, 2015, will receive Rs. 21,000 per girl child, provided eligibility conditions are met.
  5. Pre-2015 Births (Ladli Scheme):
    • Second girl child born before January 22, 2015: Eligible for Rs. 5,000 per annum for five years.
    • Multiple girl children born before January 22, 2015: Eligible for Rs. 2,500 per annum for five years per girl child.
  6. Residency: Parents must be residents of Haryana or hold a Haryana domicile, with at least one parent residing in Haryana along with the girl child.
  7. Registration: Pregnant women must be registered at the nearest Anganwadi Center or with the Health Department.
  8. Birth Registration: The girl child’s birth must be registered.
  9. Aadhar Requirement: The girl child should have an Aadhar number, though the parents’ Aadhar number is accepted at the time of enrolment.
  10. Immunization: Parents must ensure the child’s timely immunization, verified by an immunization record attached to the application.
  11. Anganwadi Enrollment: The child must be enrolled in an Anganwadi Center as per age requirements.
